PREDATOR: STRENGHTS/WEAKNESSES

As I said in my previous post I will be breaking down each the Predator and the Aliens in seperate posts, I will start with the Predator today.

I am not going to lie and say that my loyalty doesn't rest with one side of this arguement, and I personally have always been a much bigger fan of the Predator, and yes have had the Alien Vs. Predator arguement many of times with many of people.  Here I am going to break down the key strengths of the Predator, and key weaknesses of the Predator and I will also through in one intangible at the end that really sets them apart from the Aliens.

STRENGTHS:

The main strength that Predator has is technology.  They have an endless array of crazy out there weapons from shoulder cannons, heat vision, and of course that awesome way they can cloak themselves.  This definitely is a strength because they have the ability to attack from a distance, key in on the target they want, and just blast away, which helps so they can avoid getting sprayed with the always deadly acid blood.

Another strength is something I kind of thought of myself.  The strenght is a rigorous training regiment that they go throught.  These things are in amazing shape, never get tired, never seem to need food or water, and pain does not bother them, but motivates them.  I just feel that from the time they learn to walk they are put through a boot camp unlike any other.

I will put one more strength and then move on.  The next strength I look at is what appears to be just pure killer instinct.  They do not care about anything other than accomplishing their goal and will let nothing stop them.  The AVP movie totally ruined this when they allowed a human and Predator to work together, ugh I can never let that go, but their natural killer instinct is just amazing, and a definite strength in my eyes.

WEAKNESSES:

The list of weaknesses will not be very long.  Yes there are weaknesses, but I feel the strengths outweigh them.  I do think a weakness is actually one of the strengths that I mentioned, and that is the killer instinct.  This is a weakness to me as well because they let that instinct take too much control over them and they run into battles foolishly instead of taking a sure fire victory from a distance.

I also believe that they have a sense of cockiness in them.  It seems that they believe that they cannot be beaten.  They are always teasing and toying with their prey, allowing them to know that something is there stalking them, hunting them, wanting them dead.  This weakness leads to unnecessary confrontations with their prey.  If they weren't so arrogant in their skills they could play true hunter, let their prey come to them and easily take them out, but they tend to want to be face to face while facing their biggest foe.

INTANGIBLE:

Here I am going to put one final note, the intangible that makes a huge difference in the battle.  This is the fact that even in defeat the Predators will ultimately gain victory.  Most forget that they have a nuclear bomb attached to them and when they are in their most dire circumstances they initiate the countdown sequence, and well a nuclear bomb goes off, and everything dies.
